Behind the Scenes

In April 1980, Bob Bishop founded Tierra Wood Stoves in it's first location in the Sierra Sporting Goods building next to McDonalds and introduced the the most efficient wood stoves from around the world to Taos for the very first time. Bob still attends the hearth industry trade show each year to keep current with newest developments in the wood & gas products sold in our store.

In 1986, we purchased the lot at 1519 Paseo Del Pueblo Sur and built our 3,000 square foot store with easy parking and a spacious loading dock.

Our Staff includes owner, Bob Bishop, Della Coca, sales manager, and Jonah Bishop, sales & warehouse. Della joined Tierra Wood Stoves in 1997 & has become the outstanding Hearth products sales person in New Mexico. Jonah Bishop has helped in the store since he was 12 years old & became a full-time associate in 2002. Our three staff members have worked at Tierra Wood Stoves in Taos a combined 75 years and have had the pleasure of helping thousands of customers!!
